We used numerous playlists from various DJs and online-resources to construct a big network of songs that are played together in tandas.
This graph represents the connections between different songs estimated from our database. The size of the node represents how often it was played, and the edge-width shows how often two songs appear together in a tanda.
The graph is interactive, you can click and drag the nodes.

Adding more playlists (you can help too!) will improve how reliable connections and relations are.

This project can not work without input from other DJs. If you want to help, you can send us your playlists (Title, Artist, Year and Genre (Tango,Cortina,...) are necessary, other information is helpful). If you want to know how to export these information from your favourite music-player click the following link:
Select the playlist, go to File - Library - Export Playlist - Select .TXT as the extension. For an external detailed guide with pictures click here and follow method 3
Right-click your playlists and do: List - Export as external List, and save the selected playlists to your computer.
Export using the m3u_to_csv tool (see below)
Select the playlist, in the media library view go to - Administration - Export Playlist - select M3U (not M3U8)
Export using the m3u_to_csv tool (see below)
Most modern programs can export playlists to the m3u format.
Then use the m3u_to_csv tool (see below) to convert the m3u to a .csv file
We provide a tool that collects the information from m3u playlists and converts it to a csv file.
1. Download the tool (Windows - 10mb, Linux (ubuntu) - 20mb, Mac OS X - 26mb)
2. Put your m3u in a folder which is called "m3u", e.g. "../Desktop/m3u/playlist1.m3u"
3. Run the tool from the parent folder, e.g. "../Desktop/m3u2csv_v2.exe" or "./m3u2csv_mac" or "./m3u2csv" under linux
4. Send the resulting csv file, e.g. "../Desktop/2016-02-07_output.csv"
You can find the source code here
Send them to me by E-Mail (tango@benediktehinger.de) with some short detail of when the playlist was created and whether they were made for a Practica, Milonga, Encuentro, Marathon, Festivalito, Festival...
There are many ways to improve on this project. This is a non-exhaustive list of possible improvements:
